Will Blu-Ray still look good on my 1080i HDTV?

I have a Philips projection screen (not sure about the size I’d say diaganol the screen is about 45″) with a max output of 1080i and an HDMI capable reciever.

At Circuit City one time I saw a Blu Ray playing on a 1080p TV and it looked amazing and I was wondering if I would notice a significant decrease in quality if I played them on my PS3 on a 1080i?

The picture will still be amazing. You just will not be able to use the blu ray to its full potential.

yes it will look allmost the same if it is it depends on how far you sit if you sit rilly close then a tinny bit of loss maby and if you sit far away you will not notes a difference at all and you might not even notes a difference from upconverted dvds if you sit far away

1080i and 1080p is the same resolution. Its the same 1080 lines running across the screen, the difference is that the p is progresive so it shows all 1080 lines at the same time, and the i is interlaced so it shows half and then the other half (every other line to be exact then its shows the other set of every other line) really quick. So to your brain it looks like all the lines are there. You can’t tell the difference because it happens so fast. The only thing you might notice is a jutter or a flicker in the picture but you will not notice any difference in resolution.
