what’s the life of projection lamp?

Hi friends
i bought this new 50” sony bravia projection tv and just wondering if any one has any idea whats life of a UHP lamp? the store said 1-15 years!!! whats sort of estimate is that ? minimum is 1 year!?
have any of you using same or similar tv ? what precaution i should take to make this lamp life longer?

    You need to read the specs for the specifical lamp your TV is using.

    Most rear projection lamps have a half-brightness life of about 1000-1500 hours (some can go up to 2500 hours).
    Divide hours by how many hours you watch TV per day and you will have a pretty good estimate.

    Turning on/off the lamp shortens its life as well, so don’t just turn the TV off for 5-10 minutes

    UHP lamps come in different wattages, so there really is not one UHP. Generally speaking, most of the UHP lamps are rated at 2,000 hours. see ref
