I have a 360 and a PS3. I have both set up with component wires. My tv does not have HDMI inputs. Eventually, I will be upgrading my tv to a newer model with full 1080p and HDMI inputs, but I can’t afford that right now. My speakers have a lot to be desired, but I don’t know if the speakers are

save up and buy a True HD TV with as many HDMI ports as possible.
save up 3 grand buy the phillips aurora or a nice samsung like mine so ya have the game mode.
then get some decent speakers that match the tv you bought.
get a gamers rockin chair type hing and lastly get a crackin home mp3 system so that you can rock out while your rockin in the seat playing COD4 on the ps3.
Well – I would argue that you have a respectable system. That Sony TV is good, the RX-V line from Yamaha is their higher end units and Polk is decent.
While the speakers are not the higher-sensitivity ones audiophiles use – they work very well for home theater. A set of less-accurate speakers properly setup do very well for movies.
My first advice would be to upgrade the subwoofer. Look into units from SVS or HSU research. These are internet companies that produce very good subs at decent prices. Or look into building your own with a kit system from http://www.partsexpress.com
Other things you could do:
- get a copy of the BluRay Digital Video Essentials disk and calibrate the brightness/contrast of the image
- Get a SPL meter from Radio Shack and calibrate the levels of the speakers
Beyond that – go get “GTA4″ and have fun.
