Sounds like a problem with the power supply board. Unfortunately you’re going to need a tech to take a look at it to verify the problem, since you aren’t getting any diagnostics (the light would flash in a certain pattern).
If the standby light was blinking, it could be the lamp needs replacement (around $130), but since that’s not the case, have it checked out.
Unfortunately those Samsung projection TV’s tend to have lots of problems, so keep that in mind when evaluating whether to repair or replace it.
When it’s dead like you describe it, that’s normally the HIGH VOLTAGE circuit has died….
The regulator failed, the output failed, the HV splitter failed….there’s a cavalcade of possible defects in that TV that would cause a no-picture/no sound symptom like yours.
Cost to repair….About $400 to $500 for this problem. Could be less….
Usually when the red light flashes, it is telling you that the bulb needs to be replaced. However, you can take it out and try cleaning it … without actually touching the bulb due to the fact the oil from your fingers will destroy it. Try cleaning it and putting it back in. If that doesn’t work, get another bulb. Do not buy the cheapest just because it’s cheap … it won’t last more than a couple months. This is something you want to invest in so you don’t have to purchase a new one every couple months. Good luck
