Best Projection TVs

I’m thinking of buying a Sony 3LCD projection TV with a Bravia Engine. The model is KF42E200A. I’m just worried about two thing…
1. Will green blobs or other blobs pop up on the screen, which then have to be fixed expensively.
2. With optimum contrast settings, how long can I expect my lamp to last? How much will it cost? It appears that Sony does not advertise lamp costs to an unsuspecting customer even when that customer enquires. They give approximate costs only.
But I like this Tv a lot and want to buy it. Price/Size/Picture Quality factor is v.good.

I’m looking to buy a DLP tv. I’ve narrowed it down to two models from My local electronics store. First is a 60 inch mitsubishi, second is a 50 inch Samsung. The 60 inch is a rear projection, while the 50 inch is a front projection. Other than size and price, That’s the big difference. And I’m not sure what way to go. Naturally, I’m thinking the 60 inch only because of the size, but the 50 inch would fit in the room better, since it has to go up a staircase with a sharp turn. Then, of course the 50 inch is about $300.00 cheaper. So is there a better version of the DLP style TV? Front, or Rear Projection?
P.S. I do specifically want a DLP TV, Not an LCD or Plasma. (personal preference)

My in-laws gave my wife and I their older Magnavox 56″ rear projection big screen television and the color seems distorted. No matter how I adjust the settings some colors show up brighter than others and some duller than others. Is there any maintenance I can perform or should I just call a professional? I’ve heard that maybe I need to change the bulb, but that was only a thought. Thanks!

There is a really annoying really really small black spot on my rear projection screen and I think it is on the inside of the screen. It does not appear to be a nick on the front so I am guessing it must be something stuck to it from the inside…hmmm I want it gone.

I have received a broken 50″ rear projection TV and taken apart the front. I am going to use the fresnel lens and I have a use for the plexiglass, but can anybody tell me what the sheet is with the horizontal lines on it? I don’t want to throw it away, I’m sure there’s something I can do with it.

But I have also been looking at the Sony Grand Wega 46″ LCD Projection for $1248.99. I am just looking for a cheap TV for my XBOX 360 and DVDs. I dont really care about surround sound I just want a decent TV. Are these bad purchases or not?

There’s a live spider in my projection TV screen. How do i get the thing out of there? Before anyone asks, no its not just cracks or damage to the screen, as it crawled around. its so annoying please help.

I live in Dallas and have been researching this TV for some time and have shopped Best Buy, Circuit City, Conn’s, Sears..Looking like $1999. Are there any better places I should be looking at…How about online….any good deals out their? I like the long term no interest payment plans these places offer.

2) I have Fios Cable and love it; what is the best “cable” hook up I should use? ie. hdmi,component,(does it really matter)…Where should I buy this cable?

3) Many say no, but should I buy a extended warranty?

4) Do the HD channels utilize the full capabilty of the TV, ie the 1080p or only 720p.

5) Can you explain the Lines per inch with the DVD upgrade and the Blu Ray units?
