Hi,
My 40 inch RCA crt rear projection tv is almost 5 years old, I never had a problem with it until recently. The picture and the sound is not affected at all by the strange hissing sound comming at the bottom of the set. Its more like an air leaking sound from vehicles’ tire. It contiues the whole time I watch the tv and end as soon as I switch it off. When I turn it on, it hissing sound starts after about a minute time. Its definitly not coming off my tv speaker as I have disabled them since I am using external speaker systems. Yes, I tried it with my external amp off, and I still get the hissing sound off the tv. Could it be a flyback transformer issue. Should I even worry since it doesn’t interfeare with the picture and the sound quality. Please tell me what it could be.
Thanks in advance!

I have a 54″ Projection Samsung that is about 6-7years old. The warranty is out and it has been working fine. A couple days ago, the picture is all static but you can still hear the sound of the cable, dvd, or game system. I looked in the back and it looks like all three tubes are still working fine.
Any advice?

I have heard Pioneer elite might be a good receiver to go with? Any other receiver/speaker recomendations?
I’ve heard Sharp has good screens. Any other recommendations. Is painting the wall a bad idea?
I’m thinking a DLP projector might be a little more in my range as LCD I’ve heard is about 20 grand. What would you recommend for DLP and what prices?

I have a Home Theater System from Philips [HTS3555], I remembered buying a Monster Cable where it had one connection on one side and the other side had 2 connections. Does anyone have any directions or installation guides to connected the Sound cable to the Monster Cable? Some techs told me to connect the Monster Cable to the DVD player and then you can have the sound come out from the Sound system instead of just the TV speakers. Help please!
