I have this 3 yr old Sony and last saturday I am watching a movie at 3:00am (Anaconda, if you are interested) and then went to bed. Woke up at 8:00 am and my picture is screwed up now. I have tried flash focus, no luck there and also manual convergence with in the set up screens but no luck there. It appears that the guns are off because I am getting this tri color ghost effect and the screen is concaved at the top and bottom. (Remember the older tv’s where you would work the horizontal/vertical knobs and you get the same effect – only no knobs to turn here.)
Does anyone know how I can adjust these things from the back of the set? The lenses appear to be stationary and not able to move (unlike my old mitsubishi) but there is a wing nut on each lense ring and I haven’t touched those yet as I am not sure what exactly they are there for and think maybe what I need to adjust is beneath the lense rather than THE lense.
Thoughts???
when I turn the TV on the green stand by light blinks endlessly without any pauses so i cant even count the number of blinks…it just keeps blinking. The red light doesnt blink at all. It used to be that after I turned the TV off I would have to leave the TV off for a long while before I could turn it back on. I dont think its the lamp because when I took the side cover off, I could see the lamp was turned on. Its a Sony projection TV model # KDSR50XBR1
please help…I gonna try to fix it old school style…by hitting the back and sides of the tv until I end up breaking it.
If i unplug it and plug it back in sometimes it will work. Sometimes 3 or 4 tries for that. Sometimes it stays on for an hour, sometimes only 5 mins before it goes black. It’s almost 4 years old and was just moved to a new house. I had no issues before that. Could something be loose? Is it fixable?
it is lcd. lcd projection i guess. does that make a difference?
sony service says to unplug it and plug it back!! R U kidding?? like its that easy!!! cant be the lamp right? or else no picture would show up!!! and the red service light only went off once…i need some help because doing research on the internet got nowhere.
It’s a Model KPR53EX35 and it shows no static, just a black screen. I am trying to hook it up to my Dish (Dish Network) with no luck at all. I am wondering if the computer is messed up and/or if the costs of repair would be worth while. Any help would be much appreciated. It does show movies when hooked up to the DVD player when in multi screen format (PIP), but there is a section missing in lower left corner.
The TV is 2 1/2 years old, I have replaced the bulb twice. When the first bulb was replaced (10 months ago), the growing blue spot in the lower right hand corner of the screen cleared up. I recently replaced with the second bulb, but instead of clearing up, the blue area is growing larger. What is the cause? How can I repair it? Any help with this matter will be greatly appreciated. My husband is disabled and recuperating from neck surgery — the TV is his pride and joy and main source of entertainment.
Both replaced bulbs were Sony — and not cheap! $200.00 plus tax and shipping/handling. Ouch!
After considerable investigation, discovered that Sony is aware of this problem and qualified repair person will replace defective optical block at NO CHARGE.
I have a Sony Grand Wega KF-42WE610.. It’s some rear projection LCD/HD TV thing. The lamp burned out a few days ago so I bought a replacement. It took about two days for the replacement bulb to get to me. The tutorials I looked up suggested I have a pair of pliers and a philips screwdriver handy, which I do, but apparently I also need a hex key to pull the lamp outta the TV to begin with. According to the TV instruction manual the replacement was supposed to come with the hex key to help me take it out. Unfortunately I don’t have the right sized one in my dad’s toolbox either, but I’m hoping I can pick one up somewhere small enough to fit. Would anyone out there know or have an idea of what size I’m looking for specifically so I know what to buy? Or how to find out? And heck, where I can buy one would help too. I’m tired of sitting around waiting for stuff to come in the mail.
Also, is there like, a ghetto approach to removing these screws that I can use? I’m kinda desperate.
when i turn the tv on itself no sound what im I doing wrong just bought tv today how do I hook it up to include sound for cable 55 inch Sony Bravia SXRD KDS-55A3000 55-Inch 1080p Rear Projection HDTV
I have a sony Grand Wega LCD projection tv, pn# KF-50WE610. I think it uses lamp part number XL-2100u. For some reason I was thinking that there were 2 lamps that needed to be replaced, one on each lower side. Can someone please tell me for sure wether it takes one lamp or two? Are they easy to replace, and where would the cheapest place be to bet one with a warranty?? Thank you for helping!!!
I got this TV from a friend and its green red and blue colors are messed up i tryed using flash focus but the crosses do not gather in the middle like my friend said im just trying to play xbox and i need help please
I replaced the the projection lamp in my 42 inch Sony Grand Wega LCD (kdf42e2000) and the projection lamp nearing end of life message came back on and the tv quit working, flashing red like it did when the original one went out. Other than the possibility of my new replacement lamp being defective, any suggestions?
i have a old Sony rear projection TV. the model is KP-57HW40. And its lamp has some problems. I want to change a new lamp, but I can’t find any store that sells the lamp for this model. Where can I buy it ? thank you!
Can anyone that owns this projector offer me their opinion on it? Has anyone switched recently from a TV to a Projector? Are you happy you made the switch? How much picture quality do you think I’ll lose, if any?

The screen is blue in the bottom right corner which is effecting the picture quality. The blue also stretches across the bottom of the screen from the bottom right corner to about the middle of the screen. However along the bottom it is not nearly as noticeable. The effected area seems to be “growing”.
I’ve had the TV since June 2005. I replaced the lamp in March of this year. I do not have any indications that the lamp is bad. I read the trouble shooting section of my manual. The only possibility I could find in the manual is to make sure that nothing is near the TV such as a magnet that could be causing this. I cleared everything away just to be sure. Problem is still there.
I would appreciate any help in this matter. Thank you.
