All of sudden one day my screen went blue. I can only turn the tv off by unplugging the tv fromt the outlet. I tried calling service companies though they seem to know what it is they will not tell me. And since I live on the second floor they want me to bring the tv in. Too big.. Anyone have an idea what I can check maybe. As the service companies even gave me a price on fixing it. So I figured they already know what the problem is, without even looking at it.

the screen looks like an hour glass slight bowing on the top and slight bowing on the bottom with extreme bowing in the middle. looks a little like this… ) ( … it always go back to this hour glass shape, however i can sometimes kick it directly in the back of the set towards the bottom and it will go back to normal. However it always go back to this convex shap. Im tired of kicking my set.
i need help. is this something i can replace myself? thanks jim

We are going to buy a new tv, and my wife wants a rear-projection big screen..but I have heard you have to replace the lamps a lot, and the lamps are expensive…what has been your experience been with these tvs? Also, I heard you can’t see the picture from certain angles in the room..is this true?

Basically, I have an Xbox 360 plugged in and that the only reason i use it, but the menu that controls settings keeps popping up by itself. At first i thought it was the batteries in the remote, so i changed them, but it kept happening even when there were no batteries i the remote, so it wasn’t the remote at all. I think it could possibly be interference, but I’m not sure, because it will happen at one in the morning or even later (earlier if you insist). then it will stop during the day and then start up again later. basically it happens intermittently. and its always the menu not anything else. What could it be?

Everything in room reflects off screen including light, people, etc…Makes viewing sometimes impossible especially during the day.Is there a liquid solution or a screen shield that would minimize glare effectively?

When the tv show I’m watching goes to a black screen, I see what appears to be a hair reflection on the bottom left of the screen. It’s not parallel to either the side or the bottom, so I do think it’s a hair inside the lens. The red is off on the top half of the screen, again in a non liner way. The bottom right 25% of the screen looks fine. I opened up the tv, and while I can clean the top of the lens, I can’t clean below the lease that rotates to focus the red.
Is it a hair? Can it be fixed? How do I get the hair out of there?
Thanks SO much!!

Ok, very sad story. I had to move today and due to my inability to operate a UHAUL truck the screen on my HDTV was punctured. I don’t believe any of the electronic parts were harmed, just the screen. Now, how much does it usually cost to get these replaced? Where do I go to get such repair done? I almost had tears today when I saw it because that TV has been my baby for over a year now.
Love Yahoo answers because I always get great advice, so help a HDTV-less man out.

The scratches are pretty shallow, and I was wondering if you could maybe fill them or use the same techniques used in eyeglass & windshield repair.

And should I replace the bulb? It has one hdmi input but occasionally it will change to a weird color like blue or a dark green or something. Then i just have to turn it off and back on and its fine. Its not constant either.

I just replaced the lamp in my less that 1 year old LCD rear projection TV and now I have a large blue-purple blob on my screen. $300 for the new lamp and caused more problems not even the manufacturer (Hitachi) seems to know, they have ideas but no difinative answers! Is this how the new tech. is?, built in obsolecence? I have’nt had the thing for a year yet ( around Christmas) and trouble abound. Might as well stick with the old tube TVs, have a 27″ 1993 and it still works fine, I’m not the only one who has noticed the lack of quality in new TVs,that cost anywhere fom $1000- 3000 in my size range (42-60) they don’t seem to last ! About as soon as the warranty runs out, they burn out or need work done that exedes the cost of the TV in the first place
The spot is not caused bt magnets, it seem to be a optics or chip problem. Is this how the new TVs are can’t handle dust!,and if so then they(the manufacturers) need to make the problem areas more accessable to keep clean
If someone knows exactly what the problem is say!,this problem started just before the lamp burned out and is persisting with the new one,it is not there when the TV is first turned on, but as the day goes on it gets brighter,(like as the lamp or optic heats up)
