I have a Mitsubishi 65809 that is 7 year old. Is it possible to upgrade it from 1080i to 1080P without replacing the whole TV? Could we replace the video “guns”, or perform a firmware upgrade, or something? I heard there an adaptor kit of somekind. Is this true?

I had it special ordered and it cost $10,000 it says it is a 1080 and it isn’t the kind of tv you can just go pick up at best buy. It doesn’t get much use now that the kinds have been out of the house for a few years. I expect the value to be a lot lower then I bought it for but I don’t want to give it away for free.

I recently bought a rear projection TV for cheap… its a 52″ philips from 2002… it has the 3 screens on it … but the middle screen is what i believe is causing the problem.
When you watch the tv… the left and right sides of the TV are darker than the middle… ive tried adjusting the colors and what not but nothing will work…
just to maybe make things a little more clear. The middle screen is the thick kinda plexy glass one… and on the left and right sides it seems to comin in more… so that if you look at the center it kinda looks like a circle on the plexy glass… the center being the more clear part….
… anyone know how i can fix this so the whole screen will be EQUALLY as nice? thank you for your time!

Ok back when play station 2 was out i played it on this TV and it got messed up and needed to be fixed. my dad is convinced it was because of the system. will my xbox 360 hurt it, in ways besides the screen burn from leaving a pause screen up. and if you could also add a link to support your answer. the tv is a around 2004 Hitachi 52inch rear projection tv. http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff128/stephen_162/Product_135739.jpg

Whenever I play on my xbox or ps3 i have blue curved lines running through my tv. It only come in my video input especially when i turn any of my systems on. It doesn’t come during regular tv shoes but more during the times i play. I know its not the plugs cause my systems work fine on my other tv. Repairing it (with solder tools and such) is not an option and neither is calling in a repair man. Is there something else i could do, possibly with the settings of the tv, to help get rid of these blue curvy lines.
*Note this is a Sony 42In Rear Projection TV that gives me Curvy Blue lines.

I have an old(ish) Sony rear projection TV. I think it’s a 32″ model, number KPW41MN11. Recently it’s started ‘flickering’ when I turn it on, and tonight it started actually ‘flashing’, by which I mean the picture sort of ‘pulses’ on and off at a rate of about one ‘flash’ per second.
I’ve opened her up and it seems like the red and green ‘lamps’ (I don’t know if that’s what they are, forgive my ignorance!) are flashing this way but the blue seems to be fine. It’s quite an old TV and was given to me for free, but I’d still like to try and repair it if at all possible. It’s probably not worth the cost of new lamps (I hear they can be quite expensive) but if the lamps are just ‘flashing’ rather than not functioning at all then I figured maybe it’s just a dodgy capacitor or something on one of the boards?
If anyone has any insight please let me know. As I say, it’s an old(ish) unit (as in maybe 10 years?) but I’d like to know if it’s likely to cost more than its’ worth to fix.

Phillips 51″ rear projection tv. Bought around 2005/06…Works great but there is yellow color around edge of screen, like a border with some areas thicker than others. Is this a bulb problem or screen problem? Any affordable options to fix?Thanks for the help

I have a Panasonic projection TV that works great. It’s in the playroom where the kids can pretty much do as they like. While watching movies it looks like there are cobwebs in each of the corners of the screen. Does this mean that there are cobwebs in the rear projection tubes or cobwebs actually behind the front screen? Yes, its about 8 years old and no, I’ve never done any sort of maintenance. Other than the obvious “take it to a professional” answer does anyone know how to possibly blow out the cobwebs? Simply take off the back and see what happens? Thank you.

My parents have a 52″ widescreen RCA HD Rear screen projection tv, and it seems out of focus, the weird thing is it’s only out of focus for about 5-10 mins and then it clears up, this only happens when turning it on after it’s been off for awhile. The tv was bought about 5 years ago, is there a chance that it is time to buy a new one? Cost is a big thing to us, and we are assuming that the cost of any sort of repair could in the end be higher then buying a new lcd tv. Let me know what can be done to fix the problem or at least what the problem could be so we can look up costs unless you can give me an estimate. Thanks for your help it is greatly appreciated!

My tv keeps turning off dont know whats wrong with it shows good picture but out of now where itll turn itself off and start flashing a lil red light. got the lamp changed a couple of times already so does anyone have an idea of what might be wrong why does the lamp keep overheating so quickly? or could something else be the problem well please let me know id appreciate it

Sometimes the screen on my Sony LCD rear projection TV will flicker. It won’t go off or anything and it’s mostly around the edges but it’s pretty annoying. We called Sony and I don’t think they knew what they were talking about. They said something about leaving the TV on the same channel for a few hours and that should take care of it. That doesn’t do anything at all. It seems to be happening more and more now. We are thinking it could mean that we need to change the bulb. Is that a possibility? Thanks!
