Or do they loose brightness slowly? My TV is about 2-3 years old and it seems to be loosing its brightness. Do the lamps loose brightness with time?

Everything in room reflects off screen including light, people, etc…Makes viewing sometimes impossible especially during the day.Is there a liquid solution or a screen shield that would minimize glare effectively?

I have a 46″ Philips projection screen TV. It is about 5 years old. Just recently I have noticed that it has developed some strange crooked lines running around the screen. It looks like someone drew on the screen with crayon, but the lines are behind the screen. The line runs around the screen, actually there are two lines, following the same path but in different colors.
Any thoughts about what may be the problem?
I really don’t think that the screen is cracked. I have examined it very carefully and it is fully in tact. The lines are behind the screen.

When the tv show I’m watching goes to a black screen, I see what appears to be a hair reflection on the bottom left of the screen. It’s not parallel to either the side or the bottom, so I do think it’s a hair inside the lens. The red is off on the top half of the screen, again in a non liner way. The bottom right 25% of the screen looks fine. I opened up the tv, and while I can clean the top of the lens, I can’t clean below the lease that rotates to focus the red.
Is it a hair? Can it be fixed? How do I get the hair out of there?
Thanks SO much!!

Ok, very sad story. I had to move today and due to my inability to operate a UHAUL truck the screen on my HDTV was punctured. I don’t believe any of the electronic parts were harmed, just the screen. Now, how much does it usually cost to get these replaced? Where do I go to get such repair done? I almost had tears today when I saw it because that TV has been my baby for over a year now.
Love Yahoo answers because I always get great advice, so help a HDTV-less man out.

The scratches are pretty shallow, and I was wondering if you could maybe fill them or use the same techniques used in eyeglass & windshield repair.

And should I replace the bulb? It has one hdmi input but occasionally it will change to a weird color like blue or a dark green or something. Then i just have to turn it off and back on and its fine. Its not constant either.

We replaced the lamp two months ago. Now the same thing happens when we turn the tv on. It sounds like a motor or generator noise. Picture will come on and the whirring noise dies down and then the picture goes out…after a few minutes it comes on and same thing happens. We have had the tv for 2 years. Do you have any advise? I’ve called RCA but no help.

I have this 3 yr old Sony and last saturday I am watching a movie at 3:00am (Anaconda, if you are interested) and then went to bed. Woke up at 8:00 am and my picture is screwed up now. I have tried flash focus, no luck there and also manual convergence with in the set up screens but no luck there. It appears that the guns are off because I am getting this tri color ghost effect and the screen is concaved at the top and bottom. (Remember the older tv’s where you would work the horizontal/vertical knobs and you get the same effect – only no knobs to turn here.)
Does anyone know how I can adjust these things from the back of the set? The lenses appear to be stationary and not able to move (unlike my old mitsubishi) but there is a wing nut on each lense ring and I haven’t touched those yet as I am not sure what exactly they are there for and think maybe what I need to adjust is beneath the lense rather than THE lense.
Thoughts???
