Which HDTV type is best for gaming?

We’ve had a Magnavox 46″ Projection for about 15 years. I bought a PS3 last winter. We are looking into HDTV’s. Let me tell you now that gaming and general tv viewing will be the main uses of the HDTV. I wont be using it for PC Hookup. It will be placed in our living room, which receives average light on sunny days though we have curtains to darken the room. I would prefer an HDTV that has very fast response time, 1080p, and high contrast ratio. Also, if we get an HDTV, we will be getting HD from Directv as well. My question is what HDTV type is best for GAMING AND GENERAL VIEWING, MY TOP PREFERENCES. LCD or Plasma? I’m not concerned with burn-in so dont reply with lcd because of burn in. Most of the Tv’s now come in with burn-in protected abilities. I wont leave my screen on for a long period of time. So, again, Which HDTV type is best for gaming and general viewing, plasma or LCD?

What HDTV should i get?

a 65 inch dlp projection hdtv, 1080p, 3 hdmi, etc. $1800.00
or
47 inch LCD HDTV 1080p , 2 hdmi, etc. $1100.00

Both TV’s look great, however i hear that DLP’s arent as good as LCD’s because of when your sitting at an angle, but i wont be sitting at an angle all the time, I love the DLP for its size of the screen, and i Love the LCD for its slimness and great clear picture from any angle, and if i dont have an HD recieve will my games not play in HD. Please answer i’m hooking up consoles to these so if you can help, thank you

Will Blu-Ray still look good on my 1080i HDTV?

I have a Philips projection screen (not sure about the size I’d say diaganol the screen is about 45″) with a max output of 1080i and an HDMI capable reciever.

At Circuit City one time I saw a Blu Ray playing on a 1080p TV and it looked amazing and I was wondering if I would notice a significant decrease in quality if I played them on my PS3 on a 1080i?

Sony 50″ SXRD LCD Projection HDTV or Sony 40″ LCD HDTV?

What’s up!! Ok, my question is – should I get this HDTV or do you guys think there is a better one. I’m looking for either an LCD Flat-panel TV or a Rear Projection over 40” with 1080p resolution. Any thoughts, because I’m having a hard time choosing one.

Can I somehow “hack” my 1080i HDTV to force it to accept a 1080p signal?

I have a 60″ Sony WEGA rear projection HDTV. It only accepts 1080i and it irritates me. Its 1080p counterpart cost twice as much and thats its only difference. I know there is someway to open it, remove some parts, and install others so it accepts the 1080p signal. I feel so behind in technology even though this tv is new.

whats the pros and cons between a projection HDTV vs a lcd screen?

I’m looking into purchasing a 50″ HDTV but I can’t make up my mind on which one to purchase. The rear projection tv is a lot cheaper in price but I’m afraid I won’t get the quality picture. Any suggestions will be helpful.

Getting the best out of my HDTV?

I have a 52″ Rear Projection RCA HDTV. I bought it a few months back. I don’t know much about HD, it seems really confusing to me (I’m not really smart with TV’s and whatnot). I want to get the best I can get out of this TV input wise. For example, I own a PS3 and Xbox 360. What is the best kind of cables to use to hook those systems up to the TV I have. By the way. Here’s a link to the TV.

http://tv.rca.com/en-US/ModelDetail.html?MN=R52WH74&nav=ByTechnology&PC=Projection

Anywho. I need to know the best things to use to get the best picture I can obtain with those systems and that TV. Tell me anything and everything. Regaurdless of price, I want to learn something here. Thanks.
Does that TV have HDMI input? I don’t see it

What is the best kind of HDTV i can get ? And what kind not to get ?

I have about $3000 I’m willing to spend, no more. And I seen just about every tv and heard about every sales pitch I can take. Some told me that HDTV’s only come in two types, plasma’s or lcd’s. I heard not to buy a plasma, get an lcd, but at least 1080p. Then I saw an DLP with 1080p and another guy said that was better. Then I saw a Samsung 61 inch, 1080p lcd tv but it was a projection tv. What is and projection tv? Then a guy told me to stay away from projection tv’s…. Someone else was explaining what to look for if I wanted to hook my tv up to my computer !! Can someone please help me? I’m more confused now than before I went to the store. I don’t know what I want? I guess I want the best HDTV i can get for about 3000 dollars. I don’t care if it’s 720 or 1080p, lcd or dlp or scdtv i saw too. Plasma or projection. Can someone help me figure out this madness? Or at least recommend some good name brands or key words to look for? For an HDTV, at least 50 inches or better. THANKS……

Sony 60″ SXRD 1080p XBR Rear Projection HDTV SUCKS!?

Hello,
I just bought the Sony KDS-R60XBR2 60″ SXRD 1080p XBR Rear Projection HDTV for a good amount of money. However i brought it home and set it up but was disappointed.

- It takes 1 minute and 5 seconds for the thing to turn on, which is such ridiculous.
- The colors are sooo off its not even funny
- Not worth the money i bought it for

Im confused because i spent a lot of time researching and this tv was one of the best sellers and had great reviews on various reliable sites.

I feel like returning it and sticking to my old-school 60 inch big screen tv.

what you think?? am i alone in this???

Would playing my Playstation 3 for like 20 hours kill my DLP HDTV bulb?

I have a Mitsubishi 52″ WD-52631 HDTV, and this is the second time that my lamp has died WITHIN A MONTH, both times after I had had my TV on for like the whole day. I would like to know if this is what killed my bulb, or, also, how could I make my bulb last longer? I AM ASKING THIS QUESTION because all of my PS3 games say “Warning To Owners of Projection Televisions:
Do not connect your playstation3 system to a projection TV without first consulting the user manual for your projection TV, unless it is if the LCD type. Otherwise, it may permanently damage your TV screen.” Why would it? Can I prevent it any other way that not playing it. Thanks

SDTV to HDTV conversion??

I have a Mitsubishi 54″ rear projection TV. It’s about 8 years old, and works and looks great. It’s a 3 color gun (typical) projection system.

My question: Would it be possible to take a HDTV tuner board and replace the current board — to give me an HDTV with all else remaining the same? What would be the least expensive way to do this –if it’s possible?

Thanks!

My Samsung HDTV 1080p DLP rear projection TV now hums. What is wrong?

I just moved and am hoping that it didn’t get damaged. Everything else seems to work fine with it. When I am watching it, I can hear a hum. It gets louder as I turn the volume up, and it gets softer as the volume goes down. If I pause whatever I am watching, it continues to hum. It is incredibly annoying and distracting. Hitting the mute button is the only way to silence the noise. I have also changed cable companies from Time Warner to Cox. Could that possibly have anything to do with it? Through Time Warner I had two volumes I could adjust–a TV volume and a cable volume. Now with Cox I only seem to have 1 volume. Lastly, my 18-month old nephew decided to push a bunch of buttons on the TV, so I am wondering if he may have done something, too. I am NOT a techie and just want this fixed. What to do? It is a 61″ so taking it to get serviced would be very difficult.
