one of the channels I watch most often only shows picture for a couple of seconds and goes black, leaving audio only. This is the only channel that it does it on. Other tvs in house connected to cable on that channel have no problems. What is the problem? tv or cable box? This model of tv has problems with the lamp and the ballast, but that does not seem to be the problem…Help
it is hooked up to a cable box and vcr/dvd player recorder. the channel that is not working right is channel 9.

Hi, I’m in the market for a new rear projection HDTV. A friend can get me a great deal on a 57in. Toshiba, we’re talking about at cost! Toshiba utilizes the DLP technology, does anyone know if this is better than Sony’s technology? It’s much cheaper. I’ve also heard that DLPs don’t last long and you have to replace a light bulb after like two years? Anyone know anything about this? I’m open for any advice. I’m pretty much thinking SONY/SAMSUNG/TOSHIBA. I should be able to get a good deal on those brands because thats what my friend’s store carries, but Toshiba is the cheapest to buy, I just don’t want to sacrifice quality to say a couple hundred, but I don’t want to pay more than I have to just to have the SONY tag on the front of my tv.

I am looking for an HDTV (720p) to be connected to PC to watch movies (using PC RGB cable). I wonder if the picture would look right without being stretched or squeezed.

If the TV’s resolution is 1024×768 (some cheaper models), I suspect the picture might look stretched because PC’s 1024×768 resolution is 3:4 ratio.

If the TV’s resolution is 1366×768, what is the PC video mode going to be, 1280×720, 1024×768 or something else? Note that most video adapters do not support 1366×768 resolution.

What do you get if you use an s-video cable (my second choice to RGB cable)?

What if the TV’s resolution is 1280×720 (as many rear projection HDTVs)?

Is some brand (or model) better than others at handling PC video?

I would like to hear some real life experiences.

It would help me choose the right HDTV.
I guess I did not make myself clear.

What I am concerned about is if the circle on computer monitor would look circle on TV instead of looking oval.

The TV is 2 1/2 years old, I have replaced the bulb twice. When the first bulb was replaced (10 months ago), the growing blue spot in the lower right hand corner of the screen cleared up. I recently replaced with the second bulb, but instead of clearing up, the blue area is growing larger. What is the cause? How can I repair it? Any help with this matter will be greatly appreciated. My husband is disabled and recuperating from neck surgery — the TV is his pride and joy and main source of entertainment.

Both replaced bulbs were Sony — and not cheap! $200.00 plus tax and shipping/handling. Ouch!
After considerable investigation, discovered that Sony is aware of this problem and qualified repair person will replace defective optical block at NO CHARGE.
