1080p Mitsubishi TV . . . Keep or return???

Ok, so I wasn’t necessarily in the market for a new tv, but I am a gadget geek and always want the latest and greatest. I was at Circuit City today and saw the Mitsubishi WD-Y65 65″ 1080P DLP tv for $2200. I have paid close attention to tv prices and to me that was dirt cheap. So I bought it. I am supposed to pick it up tomorrow and I am wondering if I spent my money wisely. I have a Mitsubishi 55″ rear projection 1080i tv now. It works perfectly fine. I was considering putting that in my front room. Anyway, do you think it is worth $2200 to go from 1080i to 1080p? I have hd service through my cable company, a dvd player and an xbox 360 which I learned can’t go to 1080p on the new tv because it doesn’t accept 1080p through component or vga. Whew. . . Long question !!! So anyway, I can just get my money back on the tv before I pick it up if it isn’t worth it. . . . What do you think ????

How do i make my hd cable box 1080p if it does not have an hdmi output?

My tv is a 60″ 1080p projection tv. There are only 2 inputs that allow 1080p but the are hdmi inputs, all the others only go to 1080i. The problem is my cable box does not have an hdmi output. It does have a DVI output. If i use and hdmi to dvi cable will that give me 1080p picture quality? does that give the audio too? And will using the converter make the picture quality go down? please explain in detail i really want to know this. Thanks!

what is the best 1080p tv for the money?

I have compared both 45″ Sharp LCD with the new 50″ LCOS rear projection by Sony and am split by the two. One is 5″ smaller and the other has the annoying darkening when viewing away from the sweet spot.

Will screens from a 1080i tv work in 1080p tv?

Would the screens that make up a 1080i rear projection tv (Panasonic PT-47WXC43) work in another rear projection tv (Toshiba 46h83) that can display 1080p…would the images display the same…In other words do they take the same screens? I know one is a 47″ and one is 46″ I plan on cutting the screens to fit. If your going to leave a comment that the screens cannot be cut down..it is a fact that they can be cut.
It works and i cannot tell a difference from when it was new. Very very easy to do with a utility knife. I freaked myself out thinking it had to be harder than it was. I have found rear projection hd tvs to be pretty forgiving. I had people telling me it couldnt be done..even a top contributor “TvGuy” do yourself a favor and just try anyway I think some are here to instill fear in us so we just take it to the repair shop. Cost me 17.00 total to fix my screens and be watchin tv again on high def. Got a free tv with intact screens $10.00 for gas and $7.00 for food lol

Best 1080p TV Deal for under 800 dollars?

So, I’ve been working on some spec to try to find a good deal on a TV. I have a few requirements, though…

- The TV must be 1080p (and actually display at 1920×1080 or 1920×1200)
- At least 42 inches, though bigger is better.
- As cheap as possible, but no sceptre brand unless they’ve gotten better since I bought my monitor.

Size, weight, type of TV, all not concerns. I have no preference on the technology. A 1080p projector, rear projection TV, LCD or Plasma TV would all work just as well for me.

My question is, where can I go to compare deals and browse TVs? I’ve tried best buy’s website, walmart’s website, newegg, circuit city, ABC Warehouse and others. Is there a de facto website to go to? Does anyone know of any phenomenally good deals? I’m not above used TVs (that work) from craigslist, etc or reliable refurbs/open box.

My Samsung HDTV 1080p DLP rear projection TV now hums. What is wrong?

I just moved and am hoping that it didn’t get damaged. Everything else seems to work fine with it. When I am watching it, I can hear a hum. It gets louder as I turn the volume up, and it gets softer as the volume goes down. If I pause whatever I am watching, it continues to hum. It is incredibly annoying and distracting. Hitting the mute button is the only way to silence the noise. I have also changed cable companies from Time Warner to Cox. Could that possibly have anything to do with it? Through Time Warner I had two volumes I could adjust–a TV volume and a cable volume. Now with Cox I only seem to have 1 volume. Lastly, my 18-month old nephew decided to push a bunch of buttons on the TV, so I am wondering if he may have done something, too. I am NOT a techie and just want this fixed. What to do? It is a 61″ so taking it to get serviced would be very difficult.

Does a PS2 work on a 1080p TV?

I just purchased a 61″ 1080p rear projection tv and my playstation 2 looks fuzzy on it. I am using the standard “yellow, white, red” cable hook-up. What do I need to clear up the picture? I swear I have seen a better picture on a lesser tv. Thank you!

Is it worth paying the extra money for a 1080p tv?

I am looking at buying a DLP rear projection tv. Is it worth the extra money to get one with 1080p? Will I regret getting DLP rear projection? Also thought about LCD. The room it is going in is too bright for a plasma tv.

Kdl46xbr6 Sony Bravia Xbr 46 Inch 1080p Hdtv Reviews

Sony unleashed another model in the already existing wide range of XBR6 HDTV‘s , the Sony KDL-46XBR6. Stunning looks combined with a variety of features project the 46XBR6 as the ultimate in HDTV. Glossy, piano-black screen subtly merges with a silver speaker grille at the base. It has a very trendy look which may or may not work to its advantage depending on your taste. The 10-bit LCD TV panel is able to display 1024 levels of gradation for each RGB color. Subtly different shades are shown in vivid colors lending a natural and life-like look to the images.

The 120 Hz Motionflow technology doubles the video frame rate and guards against blurring, resulting in smooth and fluid movements in action scenes. An Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) circuit uses real time image processing to produce extremely natural images. The Bravia engine reduces noise and projects sharp images with 1920 x 1080p resolution. 24 fps video can be displayed using the 24p True Cinema technology. The KDL-46XBR6 is DMex enabled providing connectivity to optional Bravia Link modules like the Bravia Internet Video Link.

Pros: Viewing directly at the HDTV is great. The picture clarity is awesome. Contrast and black controll gives a well defined sharp picture. Color options are good but it took me a while to set color to the picture I wanted to watch.

Cons: I have to be carefull cleaning the screen, and I have left instructions for my family.
Setting the color is a pain. Changing cable input to HDMI on the back requires the picture color to be set again.. Viewing angle is closer to 90′s.

Summary: 2 week review. First, I tinker with things until I get them the way I want them, drives my wif e crazy.
2nd the TV was priced at $2999, I bought it for $2499, from local dealer. The best price I could get for KDL46Z4100 was$2299, so I picked the XBR6.
I replaced a KDL34 HD VEGA. (TUBE TYPE that had a great picture.)
I had trouble getting the picture color set. And it took a several attempts to get the picture I wanted to view. I adjusted the “color temperature” to Warm 1 and set the “Color space” to wide.
I am now used to the picture and haven’t changed the color in a week.
I am amazed at the color depth, contrast, black , and detail when I watch anything on HD. Even digital HBO looks great.
The inputs on the back of the TV are easy to read
The SONY TV remote is confusing at times and getting to the correct menu can be tricky without the manual. I put the SONY remote away and I’m using the DVR remote at this time.
I like the black frame around the TV being smaller. As a result, the TV doesn’t look as big.
I’d like the viewing angle to bigger. I mean the picture looks very average from the side, greater than 90′s. and can be misleading. My chair is now in “front” of the TV.

Essentially, this “future-proofs” your KDL46XBR6 by creating an expandable platform for connecting to other compatible devices that haven’t even seen the market yet.

And finally, if you are looking to personalize your KDL46XBR6, you can purchase an optional speaker grille in multiple colors.

In sum, the KDL46XBR6 delivers legendary XBR performance via exclusive motion and color technologies. And with the gorgeous piano gloss black finish, you’ll have a wonderful view whether the HDTV is off or on.
