Sony KDF-60WF655 HDTV Resolution Question – BluRay?

Hello,

I’m very happy with my KDF-60WF655 which I bought newly refurbished from a Sony repair shop for $400 (all new Sony guts!). I typically frown on rear-projection, yet I’m able to see the picture great from almost any angle in my living room and the picture size is huge!

My only disappointment came when I learned that I cannot get 1080p on this set. Is this correct? I was really looking forward to getting a Blu-Ray player. Am I wasting my time with Blu-Ray if my TV can’t do 1080p?

Thank you.

That TV is a 1080i/720p set.

No you are not wasting your time at all. The TV will down convert it slightly but I doubt that you would even be able to tell the difference.

Older rear projection tv can only do the 720P. You can not see the difference between 720P and 1080P in screen smaller than a 46″. No, you are not going to waste your time getting a blu ray disc player. You should have check the tv prior to your purchase, for a few hundred dollars more you could have purchased a 50″ Plasma with 1080P. Rear projection tv is coming to a close, only one or two companies still making rear projection tvs. Hopt this will help you out.
