Your actually thinkning about buying this TV?
You got to be kidding.
When ever buying a High Ticket item from a Discount store where you buy your food and clothing at its not going to be quality.
I had a customer buy that same exact TV, 6 months later it stoped working. He called RCA and RCA wouldnt help him, and walmart wouldnt help them either. After several months of calling back and fourth he decided to just leave it at the customer return at Walmart because it wasnt of any use to him.
Came to my shop and bought himself a quality unit that will last years on end.
When its cheap, its for a reason. RCA,Samsung,Phillips/Magnavox are the worst when it comes to reliability and support.
Hope you dont make the same mistake.
It seems cheap because it is cheap. This particular model seems to only be carried by Sam’s Club or Wal-Mart, so I would be leery.
If you want to read up on the technology used, this is a good source:

Oh yeah that is a nice one. they have it at my local walmart. I checked it out myself, but I opted for lcd instead.
Walmart used to just sell junk, they have been giving higher end electronics store a run by offering higher end stuff like this for less.
I would get it if it works for you

Note that this is a projection TV – not a “flat screen” like an LCD or Plasma. This means that it won’t hang on a wall (it’s about 2 feet in depth). This is a less “exotic” technology and that’s the main reason it is less expensive than you expected. If you have room for it, however, projection TVs provide a great picture for the money.
Also note that RCA is now a “no-name” brand used as a front for various imported stuff of OK but not great quality.
Finally, note that you can have this delivered to your local Wal-Mart for FREE (rather than paying S&H you just need to pick it up and bring it home). I suggest you use the money you save doing this buying the extended warranty from WalMart (I don’t normally suggest these but for this type of TV and this brand name it will almost certainly pay for itself).
I’m really pleased to see so many responses that are essentially saying the same thing ———- DON’T DO IT.
For the life of me I can’t understand why people buy a large ticket item like this based on price, they run out to wally world or one of the big box stores like circuit city with its 14 day exchange policy. or those places who tell you “call the mfg”.
Absolutely no service after the sale but of course you have saved a ton of money 50 bucks or even less.
The suggestion that you buy the extended warranty is valid, but many of these warranties are sold by the store but are handled by a third party. That’s OK, but they will set up the repair and it may be thru some store who does service as well sells the TV too. So those places you skipped to save money will probably be the people who repair the thing for you — so why not start out there in the first place.
Bottom line shop at a TV store, that does service too. and buy the extended warranty. you will probably not spend much more because they have to compete with the big box store anyway.
In addition they will probably deliver it, set it up, and answer all the questions after all that’s their business and believe it or not they are good at it.
