Looking to Purchase a 40″+ 1080p LCDTV?

Is this the right move for the type of TV I should buy? Or should I stoop down a bit and get a Rear Projection that is still 100% 1080p and is bigger but isnt a flat screen?

I am pretty set on going for the LCD Flat Screen and I have been looking at prices and Models. I refuse to go over 1,299.00$ base price. SO far I have got the feel that the Toshiba is the smartest move for this, BUT is there any other good options I can go with?

So far there are two TV’s that have caught my eye:

Also one rear projection looks real good too:

I also refuse to go with Plasma. I never liked it.

And the placement of the tv is a pretty open area, so depth won’t be that big of a problem, although I am possibly thinking about a mount. But I also like the flat panel much better. I would only go withthe Rear Projection if somebody would sell me on it.

Hey, I myself have been looking for a TV…..and I really wanted the Sharp Aquous from best buy.

So I went there to “look” at it…..and from the moment I stepped up to it……the Toshiba next to it looked much better.

I made a last minute decision to get the Toshiba 46″ 1080p 120hz Regza 46XV540U and couldnt be happier. The 120hz makes it more expensive.

I’d say go with the first link…..its a 46 ! You’ll be thinking “i should have got the bigger tv” if you get a 42

I’m really impressed with the Tosh though.

I didnt even open the 3rd link cuz I wouldnt waste my time with a rear projection tv. They arent the new kid on the block anymore……hence why a 50″ screen is under 1200

    Stick with LCD

Who in the hell gave me a thumbs down ?!

When it comes to HD televisions, you have three options; LCD, DLP or Plasma. DLP has great picture quality, but you will be dealing with the added 8-14 inches of thickness. If this is not a problem for where the tv will go, it may be worth it.

The other two options are LCD or plasma. Plasma Tv’s generally start at 42″ as opposed to 40″. There are differences in how the two types of televisions look, both have positives and negatives. I would recomend going to a local Best Buy and making sure you like the picture of LCD’s more than Plasmas. That being said, I am an LCD person myself.

There are a lot of good televisions out there. There is a website (www.techbargains.com) that posts the best deals on HDTVs everyday. This is in my opinion a fantastic deal today:

    http://www.techbargains.com/news_displayItem.cfm/129190

The deal is today only, so if that is the one you want you’ll have to jump on it. If not, keep looking on techbargains, as it will always post the best deals. Cheers, and happy hunting!

In my experience rear projection (although it’s come a very long way) is still lacking – especially in viewing angle. However, if you have a big enough room and will not really be to one side or the other, you can’t beat RP/DLP for the price/size ratio.

The LCD’s listed are both great choices – personally, I’d go with one of those.

    Hope this helps.
