Is there any practical way to clean the inside of the screen on a rear projection tv?
There is a really annoying really really small black spot on my rear projection screen and I think it is on the inside of the screen. It does not appear to be a nick on the front so I am guessing it must be something stuck to it from the inside…hmmm I want it gone.
10 points to anyone who knows any cool pointers.

Call your frind over, we all know friends SUCK! Simply unplug the set, get a vacumn (or a friend) and get rid of all the dust, next clean the internal lenses, screens, parts and pieces with a lint free cloth and warm water. Put the set back together after it dries, plug it in and you should be good to go.
Go to the store and get yourself some anti-static cleaning wipes, After you get them clean the front as usual, if there is something being held to the other side buy static, the wipes should pull all the static into them from the other side and the object will just fall out of the view screen.
It depends on the Brand…..
Most projection TVs have a front panel that pops off exposing screws that hold the screen in place. You remove those screws, lift the screen assembly UP and it releases….
Then you take a nice MICROFIBER cloth and wipe the junk off the inside of the screens.
I prefer to use the $20 Monster Screen Cleaning Kit for the Screen, it comes with a Microfiber cloth and special cleaner that is safe for the plastic screens.
Now, I don’t even touch the large mirror anymore except to dust it. WHY? Because many manufacturers are applying a special coating that makes the mirror look kinda foggy…IF you ATTEMPT to remove the coating, your picture will have PERMANENT streaking on it, and you’ll have to buy another mirror to the tune of $300 !! That coating serves a purpose, and that is to keep the light from diffusing (losing focus/sharpness).
As for the Projector lenses, Spray a cotton cloth with Windex and wipe the lenses, then dry it with a dry cotton cloth. You may see some streaks on the lenses, but continue to polish the lens until the streaks disappear….
NOW if you cannot figure out HOW it comes apart, send me an EMAIL with the Brand, the MODEL and I’ll look up the Screen removal instructions if they are available to me……
