im trying to hook up my surround. How to I go from HDMI Audio to Anolog Audio in my surround?

I have a Asus CPU hooked to my Hitachi CRT projection via an HDMI cable. I want to send the audio from the TV to an LG Surround System. The problem is…I have to run a Red/White cord from the “Audio Out to Hi-Fi” to the Component……its not working…is the HDMI overriding it? Ive tried all the different possibilities and still i get nothing….HELP PLEASE

Most likely, the HDMI cable coming from your computer is not carrying an audio signal. Most PCs do not do this.

Instead you’ll have to run a separate audio cable from your PC’s sound card to your surround system. The HDMI cable from the PC will carry your HD video.

If your PC’s audio card supports optical audio out, use that. The red/white audio cables only do stereo, not surround sound.

The HDMI cable from your computer does not carry the audio, only video. The tv has audio output for tv sound only, using rca jacks connect them to the aux input of your LG SS, when you want to lestin to the tv sound through your system select aux input. Your computer audio input can connect to LG SS aux 2 if available, if not try tape or other input and select the source of input when lestining to the computer sound. Hope this help.
