How much is a 57″ Hitachi HD projection style big screen tv?
My boyfriend is thinking of selling his. He is at work and asked me how much I think it was worth. It works great…so I figured I would ask.

If it’s in good condition (no burn-in, tubes don’t have a lot of wear and are properly converged, no geometry issues, no damage, etc.) then I’d say about $400.
I’d say it’s not even worth 400. To get an idea of real world prices check craigslist.org, not ebay. Large items like this actually move on craigs because it’s local and people will drive out and pick it up with a truck.
The reason I say real world prices is that people will usually post TVs like this too high, going off what they paid back in the day (like thousands) not what newer, better, flat, lighter TVs cost. So it could get posted for 600, and no bites, the owner will reduce and reduce until real offers come in. So you’ll see a few high prices, but mostly prices that have already been adjusted.
I’d get that info by looking around there for a few days, then post on the upper end of that range, see if someone offers you something, go from there. With flat panel LCD and plasma TVs getting better and cheaper all the time, it’s tough to get much for these older projection TVs. At least it’s HD, if it wasn’t, I’d be temped to list as ‘working’ and ”free, come and pick it up”
Make sure to take clear photos of it working, give model numbers, inputs/outputs etc to avoid tons and tons of basic questions. Be happy for what few bucks you can get for it and move on, the longer you wait, the less you’ll pull in for it. Good luck.
