How much does a replacement screen cost on a crt rear projection tv?
I have a 47″ samsung crt rear projection TV with a plastic screen (sorry i don’t know the technical name) with these really small ridges. There is an inch long scratch that is visible when there is something light on the tv, and its really annoying sometimes. How much would a new screen cost? Or is there another alternative to repair something this small? The model is a samsung hcr-4755W.

The screen that is scratched is called a “Fresnal” screen. It has those little ridges in there to “Catch” the light projected onto it so you can see it with your eyes without “Blinding” you. Your TV is somewhat old, considering they do not make CRT projection TV’s anymore (Not that your tv is bad). The problem is, parts for non-manufactured items can get pretty pricey. If you can find a dealer who can order the screen, it is likely you will spend 300-400 just for the part, not to mention the labor to put it in (Don’t do it yourself, it’s not easy, and your could damage the auto alignment sensor’s that are attached to that screen that has those “little ridges” on is) Your best bet is to deal with the scratch, and hope your tv dies so you can go out and get a new Flatscreen TV you can hang on your wall.
