How do you clean a big screen projection tv, without damaging it?
I don’t want it dusted, I want fingerprints off of it.

if a LCD just use a moist towle and wipe it gently, if a CRT tv just spray some windex and wipe it =]
use a window cloth but dont put any thing on it and wipe gently
There are some cleaners for this alone. I have found that Pledge Multi-Surface cleaner works – because it works on wood, glass, plastic, and electronics. It is great to have around the house!
Be more specific about what kind of projection TV. LCD, DLP, CRT, what? What specific model? How old is it? What parts do you think are dirty?
Don’t use Windex or anything else with ammonia on the plastic screen. Windex is meant for glass only. I simply dust my CRT RPTV’s screen with a feather duster and that’s sufficient. RPTVs don’t build up static charges and attract dust to the screen the way direct view CRTs do.
That said, the innards of your TV can certainly get coated with dust over time. Without knowing your exact model of TV, I can’t give you specific instructions on cleaning the internals. But in general, an RPTV has something shining up and reflecting off a mirror. The something (LCD, DLP, or 3 CRTs) need to be dusted occasionally. This involves partially or completely removing the screen. Again, how difficult this is depends on what TV you have.
Spray windex on a clean cloth and then dry with a clean cloth. thats what i use and it looks great.
i bought this stuff at best buy called monster screen clean. it is a spray and a micro fiber cloth. it works great. i have a projection tv also
use an enviro mit. its a mitten u were on ur hand no cleaning products needed. its available in most supermarkets
A little ethanol, a piece of pledget, wiping gentlely—-That’s my way to clean it and it works for mine. Hope that will help.
Best Buy’s Monster Screen Cleaner is the best I’ve ever found. It’s not cheap at something like ten to fifteen bucks, but it works awesome and your screen will look brand new with no scratching or worry for the components.
I thank all ascreen differ in their material , Ithink every matrial have specific cleaner , but ithink soft pecies of cotton rinsed in water then dry out and used it
Because the screen is sensitive there is a special solution you use to wipe the screen with, it usually comes with a special type of cloth or applicator. You should never use window cleaner or regular cloths, this would only damage the screen if not right away over time. I have made this mistake. The rest of it you can dust the regular way or use can air to push the dust from the crevices in the back.
We have a widescreen HDTV and I clean it with baby wipes. We use the same thing for our computer screen. Baby wipes are gentle, but clean well. Why else would we use them on a babys bum? They work really well and dont leave any streaky marks either.
Every week, when it’s time to dust, I clean the TV screen with a lint free cloth. Nothing else – just the cloth. I’ve done this for over 5 years with my projection TV & it works great!
Happy viewing! : )
Try the Swiffer duster products. Clean, not scratching, no mess!
Small vacuum brush.
DO NOT use windex or over the counter cleaners. They contain ammonia which will damage the screen over time. There are products on the market specifically designed for new tv screens. One of the best I’ve found is a product called CleanScreen by Audioquest. It’s about 24 bucks but it will last you longer than the tv. I sell tv’s for a living and I’ve seen people destroy their tv’s with pledge or windex or whatever ammonia/alcohol based cleaners.
Heres a link to buy:

i / would go to computer shop /buy a can of / canned air / use weekly /ask / if it can be used for that
just a cloth. or a swiffer thingy
wet moist cloth with water only
I use to sell these things so this is one thing I do know about.
Get a container and put in a few drops of dish soap like dawn or something gentle then add warm water. Get a very soft rag like from a old undershirt. Wipe the tv but only in the same direction as the lines.Run your finger across it and you will feel what I am talking about. Never wipe against these lines always with them or you will scratch it. Let it air dry.
it depends where your cleaning.
but i’d use those swiffer dusters
hi my name is stephanie
window cleaner
You could donate the big screen to me and you would Never have to worry about cleaning it again
I don’t really know how but never use rubbing alcohol it turns out really bad
lick it
What I do is use Windex and newspaper. What the newspaper does is it cleans the surface without leaving any scratches or fingerprints on the projection screen. Similar to the way I clean my mirrors glass tables.
You can buy wipes at Wal-Mart that cost $5 and work on EVERYTHING, from computer screens (even the sensitive ones), to TVs and any kind of electronic. We cleaned our TV with Windex one time and it is permanently streaked.
use a fabric softner sheet from the laundry
There is probably a 10 dollar chemical spray you can pick up from any electronic store for this, but I have found water and soft clothe to work as the best cleaner on virtually anything. It is always best to check the owner’s manual that came w/the equipment to stay on the safe side. Good luck!
Go to best buy
get 1 of those cans of air that they sell at electronic stores and just spray the dust, this is for computer keyboards but i learned this a while back because i had trouble getting dust off my 56 inch
You should use soft piece of cloth and glass cleaner.
I hope you get this answer in time… I have found that using the vacuum hose with the brush attachment works GREAT. Then take a duster and brush off the rest. This is the #1 way to clean your television of the dust. This is what I do for my big screen. definitely don’t spay anything directly to the TV. If you feel you must polish any part of the TV spray on a paper-towel first. Otherwise small holes could get clogged. And when the dust settles in other places you can attack that. I hope this helped you and wish I could have helped you sooner. Happy Dusting!- Lauren
For an LCD, I was told you can use a damp, soft cloth, or a special cleaner made for that purpose from the store who sells the TV. Windex has ammonia & will give the screen a rainbow affect. Ask where you got your TV. It may be different for a projection.
You can go to many different electronic stores and ask for a tv cleaner. Just be sure you explain what kind of tv it is. If you don’t want to go out of your way and spend the money, just use a cloth similar to the glasses cleaning kind if you can but if not just use a feather duster. Don’t get the TV wet and be sure to dust or clean lightly and gently with soft up and down or circular motions.
I just use a damp cloth. just damp tho not soaking wet. they are pretty sturdy i don’t like to put chemicals on there. maybe a little windex once in awhile. then use the vacuum to suck dust out of any vents a the bottom
First use a duster to dust of the dust then use windex on a a soft cloth
There are special wipes you can purchase from Circuit City or Best Buy for example. Baby wipes can also be used.
A damp cloth & if it’s really dirty add a dap of dishwashing detergent.
A soft cotton cloth and if you go to Best Buy/electronic store, ask the sales people to give you a spray for the Plasma TV! My brother bought it, and his plasma and the computers are spotless!
go to best buy and ask them for a specialized projection TV cleaner, make sure to have ur model number with u so they can get a cleaner designed for that type of tv. DLP or whatever it is.
If nothing works from those above you still can buy a new one…and clean one.
The first thing you need to do when cleaning a television, be it a LCD, DLP or a CRT, you need to cut all power to the set. That includes unplugging the power supply. As this will prevent the chance of the set shorting out to the circuit board(s) in the set. Next using a MICRO fiber towel, gently wipe the dust away from the screen and the body of the set. Next use a can of air, you can get this at any office supply store, and slowly blow the remaining dust away and out of any cracks that the towel can not get into. Does this by holding the nozzle just above The hard th reach area parallel to the surface of the set.
I have been repairing television and circuit boards for more than 10 yrs and the most common thing I see is people shorting out the circuit boards on their sets and end up paying major dollars to repair and/or replacing them. Another tip would be take the set in at least once a year for a thorough check up.
They make a special cloth for wiping off computers, tv screens, etc.
OMG!!!! dDO NOT USE ANY CHEMICALS!! WINDEX INCLUDED!!!! there is a product called clean screen, designed for what u wanna do. If anything use a very soft microfiber type of rag and use it with water! Clean from side to side, left to right or vertical , up and down, never clean in circles. This will cause swirl marks on your screen.I know., i work for Magnolia audio video and i install tv’s…
DO NOT USE ANY CHEMICALS. go down to your local auto parts store or k-mart automotive department and find microfiber cleaning cloths. they sell them to wash cars and such. these will very effectively clean the screen without any chemicals which can damage them. It will definitely get the finger prints off.
