Has anyone tried this before?
Has anyone tried connecting their cable box to their receiver and upconverting the video to 1080p? I want to know how standard definition looks when upconverted? How does the HD channels look? I have a couple of 1080p HDTV’s and am curious as to how this would look. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Please answer only if you have done this before.
Just as a reference the TV’s I have are:
Sony KDL-52XBR6 (LCD)
Panasonic TH-50PZ80U (Plasma)
Samsung HL-50A650 (Rear Projection)
I really want to know if it is worth doing. I was considering a Yamaha receiver with 3 or 4 HDMI Inputs that upscale to 1080p.

The edges of the Video Image (an egg, for example)
will look like it’s rippled, like water in a pond, or like
a stack of coins, laid on it’s side, so that they slightly
overlap, depending on the viewing angle of the (standard
format) Videocam. I am sure you have seen this before,
and perhaps, wondered why. This is because for every
(one) line the standard information has; the HD format
will have almost 2 (two) lines. This will make curved
images, or images at an angle, appear to look as I have
stated, above. I hope this answers your question(s).
I wish you and yours all the very best!
