Fixing a Rear Projection TV Fresnal and Lenticular Screen – Toshiba 42H83?
The protective screen (which I don’t care that much about), and the Fresnal and Lenticular Screen got cracked on my Toshiba 42H83 Rear-Projection TV.
I called Toshiba, they sent me to distibutors who sell the fresnal and lenticuar for more than $250… was wndering if any Fresnal and Lenticular screen could be used, and would that be cheaper?
Also, as an aside if anyone knows, the TV is on warranty with Best Buy, but they say they won’t fix broken screens, I did not see that in the warranty info… any way I can get them to stil fix it?
Thanks

Yes, hire an attourney and ask the attourney to call the manager as opposed to the normal letter first route. Tell him to tell the manager “I wanted to give you the opportunity to resolve this matter amicably before Best Buy adds the ensuing legal fees to your stores balance sheet.” Managers live and die by the bottom line at Best Buy and a friend of mine was a manager and had this happen and he took advantage of it. He says that many other managers would too.
They always try to not fix stuff, I used to work there (not in customer service, so don’t blame me.) Your best bet is to just go in and keep complaining until the manager gets to the point where they would rather just take care of it than listen to you any longer. Depending on the manager, this may not work, but it’s worth a shot.
I still shop there every once in a while, and they manage to get me annoyed. I sincerely apologize for ever having been one of them.
try to get help replacing this screen it’s not easy, small particle can be trap between the screen. And the surface between the two screen is easily scratch so make sure you wear gloves. About best buy or any warranty claim when the damaged cause by physical and not electrical they’re not going to take responsibility.
First off those screens dont break on their own. the reason why the do not cover the screens is because the reason why they are broken is because somone or somthing hit the screen and broke it or scratched it. There is no way on cheaping out on this. these screens are expensive no matter which one you would buy. they are all basically the same so another screen from another manufacturer with the same dimensions will work. so pick one, have the TV fixed and pay for it, or dont have it fixed. You will get no where calling your lawyer because that claus on the screen is in the contract for the warrenty. You may get somwhere by talking to a manager at best buy and having them absorb the cost but toshiba will do nothing for you…I know this because I do warrenty work for them.
