Do 1080 p projection screen tv’s show the crisp detail that i saw from the flat panel at the store?
My goal is to get that crisp real looking picture without going broke. I currently have a sony 50″ Grand Wega Projection that is 720p/1080i the video source I am concerned with is from a 1080p bluray or hd dvd….truly amazing

There are 3 issues I have with projection.
1. You have to be farther away for the picture to look very good, then you do with flat panel. This is OK depending on your viewing distance. If far enough way, they do look great too.
2. The brightness is not always up to snuff. I like a TV that pops! It’s hard to find that brightness in anything other than a CRT or LCD panel.
3. The picture quality, mostly the brightness, deteriorates rapidly when viewed off center by 30 degrees or more.
All I can tell you is to go to the stores. I have seen some some truly excellent projection displays, if you’ve got a good video source, and you are sitting directly in front of the TV at a far enough distance.
