Usually when the red light flashes, it is telling you that the bulb needs to be replaced. However, you can take it out and try cleaning it ... without actually touching the bulb due to the fact the oil from your fingers will destroy it. Try cleaning it and putting it back in. If that doesn't work, get another bulb. Do not buy the cheapest just because it's cheap ... it won't last more than a couple months. This is something you want to invest in so you don't have to purchase a new one every couple months. Good luck

You will have to pull the bulb out and check it. If you smoke, many times that will put a film over the bulb .. or just dust, either way, take it out and clean it. Worse case scenario is that the bulb is bad ... your TV will let you know after about 2 years of usage when you should change it. The bulb costs anywhere between 100 - 300 dollars including labor to put in, if you don't know how to do it yourself. Do not touch the actual bulb, it's like a headlight on a car, the oil from your hands will destroy it, and you will need to buy another one. Hope this helps !! I own a 60" HD projection TV, and work at a shop where we send these out to get fixed, so hopefully this advice helps :)

I have light spots on my Toshiba tv. We replaced a light a few months before the light spots showed up. I was told that it was designed that way to make consumers spend money on parts.

My wife has the same problem and I was able to read the maual and it said to press the "menu" button, using the joystick scan over to settings (the very last box on the right) press the joystick to click on the box. When the drop down appears, scan down to convergence and press the joy stick to click on that. The only problem that I had was, I could not get the "+" (red or blue) to slide over top of the white +. It wouldn't move at all, but that is how you get to that site.

The LAMP IS RATED 6000 hours....

So thats 3 years of AVERAGE usage....40 hours per week....

There's only ONE LAMP, and the cost is $250 from Sony....

That's a lot better than the $300 lamps that Samsung uses, and the $500 one from Panasonic....

I about crapped when I found that price.....

One thing I recommend.....ALWAYS use it with a full screen, not a 4:3 mode....even LCD panels get hot and can burn an image of the pillar box bars into them....

And if that is not satisfactory for you, and you MUST use it in 4:3 mode....then the ONLY TV I can recommend that won't BURN is the Mitsubishi DLP projection units......

Everything else I have seen burns on.....

I would have said maybe the lamp needs replacement, but you said you changed it so maybe its actually something between the lamp and the screen. If you're still under warranty call sony and they should fix it for free

I have no experience with projection TVs, but it sounds like they made a simple mistake in reassembling the projection lamp. I would suggest watching this youtube video and then check out whether it was done correctly. Also don't forget to connect the power cord and the connection to the projection lamp which could have easily been forgotten.
