720p and 1080p?
is there a difference between 720p and 1080p and do they make 42 inch tvs with DLP with 1080p and if they do can u tell me where to look for them at cause i been looking everywhere and i cant find them anywhere….and if theres no difference in picture quality should i just get the 720p instead of the 1080p but i reallyt want a 42 inch DLP samsung or sony rear projection 1080p….thanks

You won’t notice any difference unless you’re looking at a progam that uses 1080p scan rate. In that case, the results will be dramatic.
I expect most TV programming and DVDs to use 1080p within the next two years
There is a difference, though barely visible by the viewer. 1080P of course has the highest quality cuz there are more pixels being refreshed. 720p is sometimes preferred for watching quick moving images like sports and things. I’ve seen a 1080p at a store at my local mall called REX. it was either a 40 or 42″ and it was a Panasonic. DO NOT GET REAR PROJECTION. they say HD but the picture quality is horrible on rear projection.
DLP is also projection but it uses bright lights and thousands of tiny mirrors to get that sharp HD image. I’d go for the Samsung, they are great TV’s.
both answers above mine are pretty accurate in what they say, but they didn’t really answer your question. 1080p is best, and you should probably go with it if you can. samsung does not make a 42″ DLP at 1080p. you could switch to an LCD…it will cost more but still looks amazing. the smallest DLP Samsung makes at 1080p is 50″, and this is the model number.

just search for that online or at a store and if they have it you should find it. if you want a 42″ you’ll have to go down to 720p. i have a 720p samsung DLP and i think it’s wonderful, so it’s not the end of the world if you don’t get 1080p. i would stick with samsung as a brand though. again, LCD would be good too, but more expensive.

Most people only think about these two resolutions and disreguard 1080i. For a state of fact, 1080i is a higher resolution than 720p. Progressive has nothing to do with it, it’s merely a base of resolution. No HDTV or media device is capable of producing an output that is noticibly different between 1080i and 1080p. To put it simply, you would never know what resolution is being shown between the two. You are perfectly fine with a 1080i resolution television. Though 1080p is better, you would never know the difference. Our eyes can’t process that framerate anyway so it’s a waste to spend more on a 1080p capable TV when 1080i is perfectly fine.
