How do I fix a projection screen going black for a second till it warms up?

Hello,

How do I fix a big screen going black problem? I have a 12 year old Sony Big screen projection TV. Lately when I turn it on the screen will go black for a second then come back to normal. It will do this every 5-10 seconds for about a minute then it seems to warm up and works properly until I turn it off and back on again? Anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?
Thanks,
Shaun

Why does my TV turn on but no picture? I have a 2005 50″ Toshiba Rear projection TV.?

It used to work great but if you turned it off and then back on the picture wouldn’t come on. Sound works and TV tries rebooting itself every 30-45 seconds. Now TV never shows a picture, has sound from the TV and tries to reboot itself over and over. Anyone have any suggestions? I’ve heard a bad lamp? Thanks

How do you set up a rear projection tv?

The organization I work for puts on outdoor events and they would like to put a tv screen on the side of our trailer so that people can see the announcements.(in this case, race results)

Given the trailer has a square hole in the side of it, what do I need and how can I set it up?

(I mean, do rear projection screens like da-lite make work for something like this? Is there any special set up for the placement of the projector itself? Will it show up good in bright conditions?)

Sony 3 LCD projection Tv – Are there any problems?

I’m thinking of buying a Sony 3LCD projection TV with a Bravia Engine. The model is KF42E200A. I’m just worried about two thing…
1. Will green blobs or other blobs pop up on the screen, which then have to be fixed expensively.
2. With optimum contrast settings, how long can I expect my lamp to last? How much will it cost? It appears that Sony does not advertise lamp costs to an unsuspecting customer even when that customer enquires. They give approximate costs only.
But I like this Tv a lot and want to buy it. Price/Size/Picture Quality factor is v.good.

I have a 52″ Philips Projection Screen TV that displays three large bars on the screen, red, green and blue.?

As the title states, I have a 52″ Philips Projection Screen TV. Built in 1998, with a model number of 8P4831. The problem with it is, when I turn it on, the picture sucks, very hard to see even in complete darkness. And there are three rather large bars that appear to me “deeper” in the picture, which are blue, green and red. I asked a friend and he thinks it either needs a new “color wheel” or new bulb(s), but more likely a color wheel. I’m not really sure what is wrong, and Philips had nothing to say when I called them.

Any Ideas?
After doing some research I think it might be a convergence issue..

I popped off the back cover to the TV and saw a little box that has 6 knobs on it. 2 for green 2 for red 2 for blue.

each color has 1 knob for “focus” and 1 knob for “screen”
I tried turning them about 1/16 of a turn because the thing I found said not to turn it much at all or it can increase the voltage and blow out the CRTs.
Reguardless it didn’t help at all.
I also found another box on the side of the tv is connected to a circuit board that says convergence board on it.. the box has 1 knob on it.. does this do anything?
When I look down into each tube, I see pretty much the entire image. I tried adjusting the knobs that say “focus” and “screen”.. Didn’t really help.. i think I made it worse

Sony Bravia E Series TV just gave me an on screen lamp warning. How long before it actually goes out?

I have a Sony Bravia KDF-50E3000 LCD projection TV and I just got the on-screen warning saying the lamp was dying and that I should replace it soon. I called all of the local Sony dealers and none of them have the lamp in-stock.

My question is, how long do I have before the lamp gives up? My screen hasn’t gotten any darker yet, a couple of hours after the warning. The reason I ask is because I want to be able to watch my TV for Monday Night Football. Huge game between the Pats and the Saints :D

I won’t be able to have one shipped in time for this game, so I want to know if I should just buy a new TV or if this lamp is going to last until then. Missing this game is NOT AN OPTION, nor is going to a sports bar.

What is the popping noise coming from my Samsung LCD Projection TV?

So I have a 56″ Samsung LCD Projection TV, and just recently 2 days ago the lamp burnt out. I had this tv for about 1-1/2 years and the lamp already burnt. Also throughout my use of this TV, I sometimes can hear little popping noises, almost like the sound u get from when u burn firewood, and u makes the pop/crackle noise. Is there something wrong with my TV? I noticed the lamp went out because on the rear side, where the lamp sits, there used to be a light, but 2 days ago that light no longer lit up. So that’s how I knew. But I don’t get what the noises coming from inside are.

Please no jokes, I’m serious because I spent about $1,000 on this TV and I just don’t get what the noises are!

Thanks in advance!

Taking apart a large projection screen tv?

I have a Pioneer 52″ projection screen TV that I will throw out since I recently upgraded, Now in order for the garbage men to take it, I need to take it apart. I started unscrewing the back panel, removed the mirror, then I saw the projection electronics and there were warnings of “X-radiation ” and electrical shock. My questions are: 1 Are their any capacitors in the TV that will retain energy that could provide an electrical shock if accidentally hit(I unplugged it)?, and 2 What is this “X radiation” warning about? The tv was made in 1994, any info would be appreciated

Need to get an old style projection TV into my house.?

I need to get an old projection TV into my home. It’s actually an arcade machine with a projection screen & I need to lay it on its side. Is this safe for the lamps inside? My doors aren’t wide enough so I’m going to need to lay it on it’s side in order to get it into the house. I’m just wanting to make sure it’s safe for the lamps.
